Christmas at a mission: what technology can't do
Christmas Eve at the mission is loud in the best way. Volunteers in the kitchen, a hymn from someone’s phone, a long line for coffee that nobody minds.
Every system I’ve built was quiet tonight. Nobody needed a dashboard. What people needed was someone to remember their name, pour the coffee, and sit down for a while.

The tools exist to give staff that time back. When they work, they disappear into the evening. When they don’t, we fix them in January.
Technology can’t do the sitting down. It shouldn’t try. It can make sure the person who sits down isn’t still finishing paperwork at midnight.
